I remember having mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, the mystery caught me immediately. I kept on wondering what that funny face was doing from the first seconds of the episode. On the other hand, it looked so… naive. Scary in the old-fashioned way, if you know what I mean. Especially the scene when people lose their faces. An ancient horror scene if you ask me. Unfortunately, not really my cup of tea.
Then there was this whole thing about the girls. Kind of annoying. I also didn’t like the ending. It wasn’t clear to me why the boy had been out there among humans in the first place. Was he a rebel or something?
It’s often said that kids on Star Trek aren’t portrayed well. In this case, I can’t agree more. At times I even felt a little embarrassed.
