“Encounter at Farpoint” The year is 2364. Captain Jean-Luc Picard assumes command of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. En route to Farpoint Station, an immensely powerful being called “Q” inhibits the ship and accuses the crew of being an immature species. To prove their worthiness, they have to solve the “mystery of Farpoint Station”. It turns out that the inhabitants of Deneb IV, the Bandi, have captured a huge space-dwelling being to serve as the starbase. Okay, I did a lot of TOS for all of you old Trek lovers, now I can’t wait to move on to my favorite TNG. I don’t remember if this was the first TNG episode I saw. I may have starterd watching later because the next few episodes I really dont’ remember from the old times. But I’m certain I saw “Farpoint” something like 15 years ago. I fell in love.
Q and his amazing powers, the revelation of human history after our times, the way Picard was trying to resolve the conflict… WOW! I almost had tears in my eyes when the two creatures touched their tentacles and Troi repeated: “great joy and happiness”. Cool!
