“Remember Me”
Dr. Dalen Quaice, Beverly’s old mentor, comes aboard. Just as Wesley is performing a warp field experiment, Beverly enters the engineering room. The next day Quaice is gone, and no one except for Beverly remembers him. Crew members keep disappearing, until only Beverly is left. Beverly learns from the ship’s computer that the entire universe has a diameter of 750m. She is actually trapped inside a static warp bubble Wesley created. On the other side, Wesley and the Traveler generate a vortex through which Beverly is supposed to escape, and finally she realizes that she must not avoid but use this exit. summary by Ex-Astris-Scientia
Now this is a real pearl if you ask me. Wow! Watched it the first time absolutey breathless. Since that time been seeing it over and over again. So much careful planning for details, such a clever idea! Crusher on the verge of losing her mind and Picard and others every time so perfectly clueless as to the changes only she could see!
The scene with the doctor rushing through the corridor, arguing with the computer is priceless. “Aha! Gotcha!” Another one: “Just click my heels together three times and I’m back in Kansas! Can it be that simple?”
Absolutely lovely from the first minutes to the last. And it was nice to see the Traveler again. I’m curious about this race’s concept of time and thought and energy. I wish it had been further explored.

Oh yes, that was fun to watch - especially the scene with the computer you mentioned.
And it was interesting to see Beverly take charge of her situation, once there was no one else left. There is certainly more to her than just being the ship’s doctor. She acted like a true Starfleet explorer here.
Now what do you think of Wesley in this episode? Me, I thought his role in the end was a bit too important, compared to the Traveler. Maybe the writers didn’t want to use the Traveler as too much of a deus-ex-machina, but the way the dialogue goes it looked like Wesley’s “unlocked potential” was on par with the Traveler’s powers. That’s just substituting one deus-ex-machina for another.
Just one or two lines about Wesley having a special connection to Beverly that the Traveler lacks (what with her being his mother, him feeling responsible, and all that) would have done the episode good.
Thankfuly this was but a small part of an eminently enjoyable episode :), but I’m curious what you think about it.

Well, I suppose this thing about Wesley was done in preparation for the episode when he’s leaving with the Traveler. Much as I was glad to see him go finally, plus my real deep interest in the Traveler’s race, I hated that one. For some reason having Wesley not only save the entire crew on more than one occassion, be a full blown genius and all that PLUS, to top it all, have such unique powers makes me… bleeeaaahhh! I don’t see how stressing his unique connection with his mother could really improve anything much here. I’d rather have the Traveler save her by himself. Nonetheless, it’d be a step in the right direction.
