“Requiem for Methuselah”
“Requiem for Methuselah” Kirk, Spock and McCoy beam down to Holberg 917-G to find the raw material for an urgently needed remedy. Flint, the planet’s only resident, is an immortal human who was Leonardo da Vinci and Johannes Brahms a long time ago. Flint’s lovely female android Rayna feels attracted to Kirk, however, when it comes to a fight between Kirk and Flint, she dies because of her inner conflict. summary by Ex-Astris-Scientia
I loved this one. The idea of an immortal or near-immortal creature, immersing itself in the Earth’s high culture is beautiful. Must be my human pride or something? And I do understand how he’d love to have someone beside him who’d be equally long aged. I just wonder why he couldn’t find a partner amongst his own kind. Or was he a mutant? Can’t recall right now.
Anyway, I know it’s yet another Kirk’s show but surprisingly it didn’t annoy me that much here. And I loved the waltz scene.
