“The Arsenal of Freedom”
“The Arsenal of Freedom” On the search for the lost starship U.S.S. Drake, Riker, Data and Tasha beam down to Minos, the now devastated home of former arms dealers, where they are attacked by an automated weapon. Picard and Beverly follow them, but they fall into a cavern, and Beverly is severely hurt. In the meantime the Enterprise is attacked too, and Geordi orders a saucer separation to fight the weapon with his inexperienced battle bridge crew. Picard learns that the attacks are nothing but a demonstration, and he ends it by simply agreeing to buy the weapons. summary by Ex-Astris-Scientia
Another wonderful episode. Granted, I’ve watched it to death as well but I still love it.
What is it with all the people who are so keen on killing each other? Is this really something we can’t just learn once and for all? I mean, that killing is not a solution to all the problems. The absurdity which was so well pictured in this episode doesn’t really have any impact on our today’s world. It’s a very sad thing to think.
If you ask me, this episode as well as many many other,s should be shown and taught at schools. All over the world. As early as possible. If we can’t change anymore, let’s try and change our children. They will rule the world one day. Let’s make sure they’re smarter than their parents and grandparents. Is there any better way to show them a better future than to show them Star Trek?
