While the Enterprise is surrounded by what turns out a two-dimensional lifeform, Deanna’s telepathic abilities vanish. She is desperate about it, and although her friends and colleagues encourage her to carry on, she decides to resign as the ship’s counselor. Great one about Deanna. I can really relate to her in this one. A great Mrs Psychologist has now to deal with her own depression. Not that easy, huh? I’m not being sarcastic, btw. She is being very human with her weaknesses and she’s showing all phases of it. Denial, depression and fight.
One of my favorite scenes from this episode is Dr Beverly’s line: “If it was anyone else, I’d send them to talk to Deanna Troi.”
