After being hit by an energy surge from an alien probe during the inspection of a subspace telescope, Lt. Barclay shows amazing abilities he never had before. He is obviously evolving to the most advanced human to exist. After he has saved telescope from exploding by tapping into the Enterprise computer, he creates a subspace tunnel through which the ship travels to a point 30,000ly away. A Cytherian appears and explains that they explore other civilizations by bringing them to their home system. Wow! Another one of my absolute favorites. Just look at most of my Andromeda story! The issues I find most fascinating are about boundaries between human (or organic) versus artificial intelligence.
Now, what happens if a person is transformed into a computer? LOL! I’m writing about the reverse situation currently: What happens to a computer who’s transformed into a human? Both cases are worth exploring by the best sci-fi writers / directors!
