“The Paradise Syndrome”
“The Paradise Syndrome” Kirk gets trapped in an obelisk on an alien planet. Having lost his memory, he is adopted by an American Indian tribe, while an asteroid crash on the planet is imminent. Kirk, who now calls himself “Kirok”, falls in love with Miramanee. The Enterprise’s efforts to deflect the asteroid fail, but the “Preservers” who once transferred the Indians to this planet have taken precautions for this case and installed a deflection system in the asteroid. Heh heh heh! That’s something I understand! Kirk’s going insane! That he could believe he’s a God was obvious for me from the very start.
Another thing that took my breath away was the mention of the Preservers. Some continuity finally. I absolutely love the concept from TNG “The Chase” Something I read about in some wonderful fan fiction (I can’t remember where exactly but I still believe a lot of this stuff is far better than anything TV has ever produced!) and I fell in love with it.
The idea wonderfully explains why most races are human-like and the whole notion of an ancient civilization leaving a message for future generations is perfect. More please.
